Around the UK - Northern Ireland
e-skills UK is dedicated to working in partnership with employers and key stakeholders to address the IT, Telecoms and Contact Centres skills issues that will have the most significant impact on the success of the Northern Ireland economy.
Sector Skills Agreement (SSA)
Our action in Northern Ireland is guided by the SSA for IT Action Plan for Northern Ireland which was created and published in Sep 07 to unite employers, educators and government on a common agenda for change. The plan is based on the findings of a major research report carried out with Gartner, IT Insights: Skills Gap Analysis - Northern Ireland.
ICT Future Skills Action Plan
Subsequent to the publication of the SSA, it became apparent to DEL that there were particular skills issues facing the software part of the ICT sector, which is the largest growth area within NI’s ICT industry. A Future Skills Action Group
(FSAG) for ICT was established. As a result of the workings of that group, a short term plan of action has been developed to address these skills needs, and to co-ordinate activity across DEL, InvestNI, e-skills UK, Momentum and industry. See below for a downloadable copy:
